Joan Bard-Collins was born in Chicago and grew up in Northwest Indiana where the local library became her second home. Stories have always been a major part of her life – first listening, then reading, and now writing. From an early age she discovered that American History was one epic adventure after another throughout the year.
Bard-Collins and her husband were partners in an architecture/engineering company in Oak Park, Illinois. They both share a passion for Chicago’s architectural history. Over the years they have collected remnants from numerous, now demolished, Chicago buildings.
Honor Above All is the first novel in a series, set in 1882 Chicago.
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
